The 1400 Series is our heavy-duty bobbin winder, engineered for demanding applications where standard machines fall short. Durable bearing plates, roller bearings, a sturdy 3/4-inch arbor, and an industrial-strength encoder deliver the rigidity and reliability needed for heavy-gauge wire and high-torque winding.

Models cover the range from faster production speeds (2600 RPM, #15 AWG) to maximum torque applications (300 RPM, #7 AWG). The 1/4 HP DC motor with custom motor control provides smooth, controllable power across the full speed range. Dynamic braking ensures precise stopping, and the multi-range foot control gives you intuitive speed adjustment.

Like all Adams-Maxwell winders, the 1400 Series features 99 user-defined presets with absolute or additive turn counting, operator lockout security, and a bright LED display accurate to 1/10 turn. The arbor includes both flat and keyway for secure tooling attachment.

Pairs with the 1260 Automatic Traverse for hands-free wire layering on larger coils, or use standalone for manual production and prototyping.

Frequently Asked Questions

What accessories are required vs. optional?
None required—the machine is ready to use out of the box with basic arbors included. Recommended: Tensioner for consistent wire tension (especially for finer gauges), Tailstock for longer coils, and Hand Controller for automated speed control.
Can this handle fine-gauge wire like 42 AWG?
Yes, this machine handles a wide range of wire gauges. For finer gauges (40-44 AWG), we strongly recommend pairing with our Azonic Tensioner for optimal tension control and to prevent wire breakage.
What support is available after purchase?
Every machine includes lifetime phone and email support directly from our engineering team in Moorpark, CA. No call centers—when you call, you speak with someone who helped build your machine. We also offer on-site training and calibration services.
How do I order? Can I pay by purchase order?
You can order directly through our website with a credit card, or request a formal quote for purchase order processing. We work with procurement departments and offer NET 30 terms for qualified business accounts.
