Add automatic wire layering to your existing 1201 Series bobbin winder. The 1250 Traverse uses a high-precision stepper motor with microprocessor control to eliminate hand-guided winding—set your pitch, set your length, and the traverse does the rest.
Available in two sizes: 7" travel (1250-1) for standard bobbins or 14" travel (1250-2) for longer workpieces.
A photoelectric pickup senses spindle rotation and direction, moving the carriage the exact distance specified by your pitch setting. When the carriage reaches your programmed length, it reverses automatically. Fine pitch mode (.00001 to .00999 in/rev) handles delicate wire, while regular pitch mode (.0001 to .0999 in/rev) covers standard applications.
Store up to 32 traverse sequences for quick job changeovers. Built-in programs support layer winding, multi-home positioning, variable pitch, variable layering, and universal winding patterns.
Mounts to the 1217 Aluminum Baseplate (sold separately) alongside your 1201 winder for a complete automatic winding station.

Frequently Asked Questions
What accessories are required vs. optional?
None required—the machine is ready to use out of the box with basic arbors included. Recommended: Tensioner for consistent wire tension (especially for finer gauges), Tailstock for longer coils, and Hand Controller for automated speed control.
Can this handle fine-gauge wire like 42 AWG?
Yes, this machine handles a wide range of wire gauges. For finer gauges (40-44 AWG), we strongly recommend pairing with our Azonic Tensioner for optimal tension control and to prevent wire breakage.
What support is available after purchase?
Every machine includes lifetime phone and email support directly from our engineering team in Moorpark, CA. No call centers—when you call, you speak with someone who helped build your machine. We also offer on-site training and calibration services.
How do I order? Can I pay by purchase order?
You can order directly through our website with a credit card, or request a formal quote for purchase order processing. We work with procurement departments and offer NET 30 terms for qualified business accounts.
